WoW Cataclysm Basic facts

What is Cataclysm?

Cataclysm is the upcoming most awaited World of Warcraft expansion. The previous two expansions were The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. We can say that we see such expansions every two years in WoW. It comes with a lot of changes and new updates to the game such as new dungeons, classes, raids and events. However, these expansions completely alter the way game was played from player’s perspective.

Some quick facts:

  • The expansion will be going live on Dec. 7, 2010
  • The level cap will be raised to 85
  • Two new races – Worgen (Alliance) and Goblin (Horde) will be introduced
  • New zones: Deepholm, Hyjal, Twilight Highlands, Uldum and Vashj’ir.
  • Almost everything in Azeroth will be revampled
  • New secondary profession known as Archaeology
  • New mastery stat
  • Talent tree overhaul
  • Updates to the Raid System
  • New benefits and perks for guild as well as achievements
  • Inscription overhauled
  • New Rated battlegrounds will be introduced

I’m sure you must have seen the trailer already. But here’s a video on Cataclysm and making of the trailer of this expansion.

WoW Cataclysm Priest Changes Guide

WoW Cataclysm Priest Changes that Players Hate!

When gamers rolling this class started looking at all the wow cataclysm changes priest players had to deal with, the accolades were nowhere to be found.  The initial complaint was getting rid of Divine Spirit and Prayer of Spirit.  It basically took away a huge part of a priest’s mana regen boosts. We will use this WoW Cataclysm Guide to explore the changes to the Priest class.

Mana Issues with the WoW Cataclysm Priest Changes

Another one of the wow cataclysm changes priest players have frowned upon is deals with mana.  It used to be that most of the healing spells were similar in mana cost, but there is a huge difference now.  While this was primarily found in the Beta testing, healers are now noticing it when they are running raids or pugging through the Dungeon Finder.

Blizzard’s intent is to make the game more challenging, and for those gamers who need a challenge, this could be the appropriate medicine.  However, all the changes are geared to keep healers from standing around and doing nothing in regards to dungeons.  It’s basically going to keep you more interested in the game instead of surfing the Internet while following your group.

It’s not all BAD! – The WoW Cataclysm Priest Abilities that don’t suck

There are plenty of benefits coming from the wow cataclysm priest changes that players unveil.  One of the most notable is the new “Heal” ability.  We all know there was already a Heal option before the 4.0.1 patch.  While this is true, the problem with the old version is it didn’t offer much once you reached higher levels.

This Heal provides you with a starting point of level 16, and will be similar to a downgrade of the Greater Heal ability.  Since mana is going to be more of a challenge for gamers, you will end up using this more in order to save the mana.  Plus, it alleviates you using Flash Heal for just about any situation.

Discipline and Shadow Talent Changes

One of the biggest reasons priests are always hard to find in the game is because gamers just get bored with them.  Even though its fun taking care of others from time to time, when you’re playing certain parts to the game it make you want to give up reaching level 80.

Hopefully the new additions will change this in all ways possible.  The Discipline spec is setup now where single target healing is needed instead of a simple shield.  Keep in mind; if you’re a disc-priest you will be gaining Power Word: Barrier, which is considered by Blizzard as a “group Power Word: Shield.”

The idea of shadow priests becoming even more entertaining is one of the best wow cataclysm priest changes that players will love.  Even though Cataclysm will be changing the talent tree dramatically, the use of Shadow Orbs will balance everything out.  Plus, when you’re at a lower level and using the Shadow tree, these orbs can boost your abilities even before hitting Shadowform. These WoW Cataclysm Shadow Priest Changes will definitely be welcomed by most.

WoW Cataclysm Priest -  Chakra

Honestly though, We at WoW Cataclysm Guide feel that there is really only one significant cataclysm change in the talent tree.

Chakra is a buff you cast on yourselves, the skill behaves differently based on spell that you cast immediately after you cast the chakra, that is, if you cast chakra and then cast one of the following:- Heal, Renew,Prayer of Healing or Smite, the skill behaves differently.

  • Chakra+ Heal :-Increases the critical effect of the heal
  • Renew : Renew spell becomes more powerful – by 10%
  • Prayer of Healing – Increases your Area healing speels by 15%
  • Smite : Increases shadow Damage,Holy Damage by 15%

The Next Chapter – New WoW Cataclysm Priest Skills, Spells

When Cataclysm is released, there will also be new abilities a priest can gain.  Level 81 will gain Mind Spike, level 83 Inner Will, and level 85 will release Leap of Faith, which happens to be our favorite.  If one of your mates is getting crushed in PvP, a dungeon group, or even a raid, a priest can pull them to their location to keep them from dying.  There are plenty of other wow cataclysm priest changes that players need to know, and the more knowledge you have the better your toon will be.

WoW Cataclysm Rogue Changes Guide

WoW Cataclysm Rogue Changes Guide for Players to take advantage of NOW!

When you look at all the wow cataclysm changes rogue players have seen, they are far better than any other class in the game. This is especially true if you enjoy any sort of PvP play.  There is nothing like being a plate-warrior and your opponent yelling; “Two shots FTW!”  It’s painful if you’re any other class, but the rogues are loving life…for a little while anyways.

However, This small WoW Cataclysm Guide will focus on the new abilities that rogues will gain when Cataclysm is released.

Wow Cataclysm Rogue - Goblin

New WoW Cataclysm Rogue Skills

Redirect @ Level 81- This has a 1 minute CD (at the moment), and can be used to actually transfer combo points.  Fair?  Well other classes don’t think so, but it will help rogues keep from having to waste combo points.  While this is true, you can always use the new Recuperate ability to consume those combo points and gain health.

Combat Readiness @ Level 83- One of the most beneficial wow cataclysm rogue changes that players will love is Combat Readiness.  Using this ability means when you’re struck by a melee or ranged attack, an instant Combat Insight buff is applied to the rogue.  You gain a 10% damage reduction over a 6 period.  The crazy part is this can stack up 5 times.

Smoke Bomb @ Level 85- If you play another class, the Smoke Bomb ability seems like another invincible tactic for rogues to disappear into thin air.  When a bomb is dropped, opponents will have difficulty targeting the rogue.  If by chance your enemy is outside the cloud they won’t be able to target anyone inside of it.  The only thing you will really have to worry about are AoEs and people charging into it.  We can already see this being a huge issue for enemies in PvP play.

Back to the 4.0.1 Patch Changes

All the new wow cataclysm changes rogue players are experiencing are making leveling fast, and allow you to own PvP play.  In fact, it was Blizzard’s intent all along for rogues to be able to fight plate wearers head-to-head without going in and out of the shadows.

One of the most used abilities is Ambush, and the wow cataclysm changes rogue players see here is that it works with all weapons now.  The only issue is if you’re not using a dagger the benefits won’t be as plentiful.  This will definitely be apparent when you look over the new talent tree setup. It is safe to safe to say that more than one of us at WoW Cataclysm Guide are psyched to play the Rogue, post Cataclysm.

WoW Cataclysm Rogue Abilities and Talents

WoW Cataclysm Rogue Rotations

Building the proper rotation for a 1 or 2-shot kill is fairly easy right now.  We’ve seen everything from using Sap/Ambush/Eviscerate to Cheap Shot/Eviscerate/Kidney Shot.  There are plenty of combinations available, but based on your stats, gear, weapons, and skill, the rotation for you might be different.

Wow cataclysm rogue changes that players have seen in October are a far cry from what will occur when Cataclysm is released.  Be sure to learn everything you can regarding your rogue class if you truly want to create the ultimate World of Warcraft character.

WoW Cataclysm Warlock Changes Guide

WoW Cataclysm Warlock changes Guide

This is a quick WoW Cataclysm Guide on Warlocks. Even though you will see continuous modifications for the wow cataclysm warlock changes that players will experience, it’s still fun to see what Blizzard is thinking.  If you were already rolling a warlock before, being able to summon a Fel Guard (actually everything except Doomguard) at lower levels seems unfair.  Then again; “locks” love it for leveling purposes, as well as PvP play.

Also, if you take a look at your player icon in the top, left corner of the screen, you will now see 3 elements underneath the HP and Mana pools.  There is a new soul shard setup as opposed to collecting up to 32 before the 4.0.1 patch was installed.  In Cataclysm you will have 3 soul shards to use during combat.  It’s important to understand you won’t be able to gain anymore until the fight is over.

However, these are simple changes that will be easy to adjust too, especially since you don’t use many shards while fighting (except for health and soulstones).  You will find several secondary effects from the wow cataclysm warlock changes that players will experience that include Soul Burn.  A good example of this is; Drain Life + Soul Burn = Reduces casting speed by 60%.

You will also notice that your Curse of Agony and Doom have been converted to Bane of Agony and Bane of Doom.  These are wow cataclysm warlock changes that players will want to have, because it allows them to utilize a Curse and Bane at the same time (only one of each).  Oh, and for all you locks who love using Hellfire won’t have to worry about being bubbled since it no longer gives you damage.

New WoW Cataclysm Warlock Talents

You won’t find nearly as many wow cataclysm changes warlock players have to deal with in regards to the talent trees.  If you love the Demonology tree and the Metamorphosis ability, the effects you use while under this demon spell have been altered.  Blizzard’s goal was to make locks put more emphasis on their own spells.

If you enjoy using Shadowburn you will love the additional damage to targets below 25% health.  Plus, there will be a new talent available (Impending Doom) to help lower the CD times of Metamorphosis and Bane of Doom.  Then if you’re setup in the Affliction tree you can use Pandemic, which refreshes Unstable Affliction through the use of Drain Soul.

New WoW Cataclysm Warlock Abilities

Wow cataclysm warlock changes that players really want to know about are the new abilities available when the new expansion is released.  Here are 3 we know of now:

Level 81 (Fel Flame)- Similar to the Mage’s Frostfire Bolt, Fel Flame is an instant cast that deals out Green Fire.  The increased Shadowfire damage will be something all locks will love.

Level 83 (Dark Intent)- A 3 stack option that provides periodic damage or healing spells.  Anytime a target lands a crit you enjoy an extra buff to your damage.

Level 85 (Demon Soul)- The abilities here will be helpful wow cataclysm changes warlock players can use.  It fuses the souls of the demon you choose and your lock.  The special effects depend on the demon, but there will be a self-burst CD to use.

Take some time to read over all the wow cataclysm changes warlock players will be enduring.  Some are good, some are bad, but if you study your class you will come up with the best toon possible. Make sure you let us know if you have any queries, we at WoW Cataclysm Guide will get you the info you need.

WoW Cataclysm Hunter Class Changes

It’s no surprise this class feels upside-down after the WoW Cataclysm Hunter changes that  players are going through.  The major change is switching the mana to focus, which has been a major issue of late.  Gamers are saying their focus bars are being depleted with old rotations, and overall DPS levels have seemingly dropped.  However, this isn’t the only change Hunters found. In this WoW Cataclysm Guide we will focus on the Hunter class and the changes it has gone through.

Call Pet and Pet Families -New WoW Cataclysm Hunter Pets

This is one of the newest WoW Cataclysm changes Hunter players enjoy.  It allows them to use the Call Pet ability and choose between 5 different choices.  Think of it as your “Top 5,” because you can hold up to 20 pets in your stables.  All of you Huntards out there know how beneficial this can be when you’re taking on a specific enemy.

It’s a very big bonus when running a raid or dungeon.  There will always be the possibility that you are missing a particular buff because a certain class isn’t in your group.  Well, one of the WoW cataclysm changes Hunter players will be applauded for is using their pet families in the appropriate manner.  Bringing out a specific pet can make up for the lost buff from another player.

  • One of the new Pets is the Fox which can be found all over, if you are looking for one, you could go to Loch Modan.
  • The next pet we found was the Outland Boars found in different colors in outland.
  • Then you have the Beetle , A new tanking pet found in Tanaris and Thousand Needles
  • And there is the Bonepicker Felfeeder, This monster is not new but it is newly tameable.
  • And finally, The Silithids which are found in Thousand Needles and a few that rarely spawn in Tanaris

Have a look at all these pets in the following video

Getting rid of Ammo

Even though there are some Hunters out there who enjoyed purchasing ammo and getting the increases, this has been completely removed from the game.  Also, if you had a quiver or pouch to carry your ammo, those have been recreated into regular bags with the same amount of space.

New WoW Cataclysm Hunter Abilities

Cobra Shot (level 81): A new shot that deals Nature damage instead of Physical damage. This ability will share a cooldown with Steady Shot. This will give hunters an alternative to Steady Shot on heavily-armored targets, and we will have talent incentives in the Beast Mastery tree to make this a signature shot.

Once you’re able to go from level 80-85, the WoW Cataclysm changes Hunter benefits will be extremely helpful for higher tier players.  In fact, your first major contribution will occur when you hit level 81 and can utilize the Cobra Shot.  Intertwined with Steady Shot, this will be a nice alternative against enemies with crazy amounts of armor.

When using the Cobra Shot you will produce weapon damage of 276 + RAP 0.086, but it will be nature damage.  It will probably be a good idea to setup your Serpent Sting with this as well since the duration will increase by 6 seconds.  These WoW Cataclysm changes Hunter players enjoy get even better.  It will also generate an additional 9 Focus (VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER!).

Trap Launcher (level 83): When used, the next trap can be shot to a location within 40 yards. This provides the current Freezing Arrow treatment to all traps and, as a result, we will be removing the current ability Freezing Arrow. 1-minute cooldown. No global cooldown.

Both of these new options are getting rave reviews from Cataclysm Beta testers.  When you reach level 83, one of the WoW Cataclysm Hunter changes that players will love is the Trap Launch.  This can allow you to launch a trap up to 40 yards away.  So just when that Warrior blows his trinket, you can shoot another trap across the board and keep him at bay.

Camouflage (level 85): The hunter enters an obscured state that prevents him or her from taking ranged damage. The character would still be subject to melee or area-of-effect attacks, and dealing or taking damage will break the Camouflage effect. The hunter can move and set traps when under Camouflage, and will receive a damage bonus when attacking while under Camouflage (which will then break the effect).

Wow Cataclysm Hunter Camouflage comes at level 85 and is something Hunters haven’t seen for years.  There used to be a “Dead Zone” areas where ranged damage wouldn’t work, but that seems like forever ago.  This ability allows you to enter an obscured state and refrain from taking ranged damage.  We can already see how beneficial this will be in the BGs and Arena play.

What else? Blizzard is finally allowing a WoW Cataclysm Undead Hunter. This was not available before and although this may not do too much to the game mechanics, it is widely welcomed by Hunters all over :) Personally, We at WoW Cataclysm Guide, are just raring to make an Undead Hunter.

WoW Cataclysm Warrior Changes Guide

WoW Cataclysm Warrior Changes

This is a quick WoW Cataclysm guide on the Warrior class. When the 4.0.1 patch finally came out, most wow cataclysm changes warrior players were hoping for actually occurred.   What was once a dead class is not making strides to becoming a popular entity again.  The biggest difference revolves around the Rage that is generated, but there are plenty of other new additions as well.

Rage Generalization

Once upon a time warriors had to use auto-attacks or certain abilities to create rage.  Heck, some of you probably even purchased rage potions from the auction house.  Whatever the case may be this is no longer a problem.  What used to develop from specific damage amounts is now a flat-rate.  So when your main weapon grants range, your off-hand weapon will grant 50% of it as well.

3 New Abilities – WoW Cataclysm Warrior Spells

If you haven’t seen information on the Beta Cataclysm tests yet, there are 3 new abilities warriors are going to love.  The first one comes at level 81 called; Inner Rage.  This is one of the wow cataclysm changes warrior toons will enjoy since it provides an additional 15% damage.  However, your rage must be at 100% before you gain this buff, and it costs 50% more rage.

When you hit level 83 the Gushing Wound ability will be available.  This is a basic bleed effect ability that is very similar to Rend.  The difference is it can refresh the duration if your enemy moves, and this can occur up to 3 times.  Even though it’s been said that this won’t have a CD attached to it, there could be a change in future patches.  It also only costs 10 Rage and will last 9 seconds.

Once you reach level 85, the Heroic Leap will be an available wow cataclysm changes warrior players will want to use.  We can already see that prot-warriors are going to love it since you’re able to leap to a target and automatically apply the Thunder Clap ability to everyone in range.  In the beginning this can only be used in Battle Stance, but the Warbringer and Juggernaut talents offer it up in any of the three. WoW Cataclysm Guide will get you videos on this pretty soon.

WoW Cataclysm Warrior Talent Tree

Issues with Sunder Armor

Even though most of the wow cataclysm warrior changes are changes that players will like, there are a few downfalls as well.  One of the main areas is Sunder Armor.  It used to be that it would stack up 5 times, and warrior tanks would initially use it in group and raid play.  While this probably won’t change, it has been reduced to only 3 stacks.  There are no additions to the armor reduction either (still 4%).

Other changes a Warrior should Know!

Our recommendation is reading over all the wow cataclysm warrior changes  players will need to know.  Whether it’s new Passive bonuses, understanding the additions to Disarming, the differences in all three talent trees, glyph utilization, rebuilding dps, how to work your talent builds or anything else, there is plenty to learn.  In the end it will allow you to maximize the benefits to this class and display your warrior skills.

WoW Cataclysm Paladin Changes

WoW Cataclysm Paladin Changes

If you’ve been running a pally for either faction, the nerfs they went through in the 4.0.1 patch is a little depressing.  While other classes may be saying; “Finally,” gamers around the globe are baffled by the WoW Cataclysm changes Paladin players have experienced, which is why it’s even more important to understand them all.  Otherwise you won’t be able to capitalize on some of the benefits. This is a small WoW Cataclysm Guide on Paladin changes.

New Additions

Holy Power is the newest and most talked about addition to Paladins.  Even though we all hate change, once you get used to using it the benefits are massive.  Consider your Holy Power like a Rogue’s combo point.  The first time you can test it out is when you’re able to use Word of Glory and Templar’s Verdict.

If you went up against a Wow Cataclysm Paladin before, the WoG is a huge complaint amongst other classes.  However, there are downfalls to using it.  The WoW Cataclysm changes Paladin players see is not being able to receive a 100% heal everytime you use it.  The WoG can stack of with Holy Power 3 times for the maximum benefits, but using it on the first and second levels won’t provide a healthy benefit.

Your stacks build based on the use of your Crusader Strike (much like the Rogue’s: Sinister Strike), and when you use Templar’s Verdict you will usually consume all your HoPo.  The good news is there some occasions where you use your Word of Glory and it doesn’t take away any Holy Power.

DPS Changes in a WoW Cataclysm Paladin

Those who enjoy rolling with Rets saw plenty of increases in WoW Cataclysm RET paladin changes.  Here are a few of the most notable changes that might have you turn to the Retribution talent tree if you haven’t already:

* Avenging Wrath- There used to be a restriction this is you used Divine Shield or Protection, LoH, or HoP.  However, this is no longer the case.

* Blessing of Might- Even though your Blessing of Wisdom is gone, your BoM grants mana every 5 seconds, which is pretty similar.

* Crusader Strike- This used to provide 75% weapon damage, but since the 4.0.1 patch it’s now 150%.

* Judgment- This is a 10-yard range, but when you max out Improved Judgment you add an additional 20 yards (instead of reducing your CD).  Plus, maxing out your Long Arm of the Law ability increases your movement speed by 45% when you hit someone within at least 15 yards away.

The biggest downfall in this area has to be the Seal of Vengeance, which is now the Seal of Truth.  Even though your Spell Power is increased by 6% (now 12.5%), your AP loses .5%, and your weapon damage is down from 33% to 16% when stacked five times.
